Brazilian duo Sa/Melo win Brazil Open
Adjust font size:

The Brazilian tennis duo Andre Sa/Marcelo Melo won the Brazil Open doubles on Saturday. They will now travel to the United States to participate in various tournaments for an Olympic spot in this year's Olympic Games.

"The Olympics are our priority. We won't begin to think about the Masters Cup quite yet. There is a lot of work to be done," said Andre Sa. "We are going to tour the USA with two Masters Series. There, we can show that we can play with anyone."

In the USA, the duo will play in Memphis during the last week of February before heading to Las Vegas on the March 3. The two Masters Series tournaments will be held in Indian Wells and Miami. Before their trip, Melo will try to take advantage of one more tournament in the Buenos Aires tournament, however, he will not couple up with Sa.

"I'm not worried. He is still young and I am getting old. I am already married and am a father," said Sa on Sunday, one day after their victory on the shore of the Sauipe Coast. In Argentina, Melo will play along side Martin Garcia, of whom he was co-champion in the Adelaide tournament in the beginning of 2008.

One of the main objectives of the duo is to make it to this year's Olympic Games. However, without any official notification, the two are uncertain about the classification of this year's Games. "We don't know, but we will continue to work hard so that we can better our chances," added Sa.
